God gives wisdom, Once God appeared to King Solomon of Israel in a dream and said, “Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.”
Solomon thanked God and said, “O Lord God, please give me wisdom and knowledge so that I can lead your people properly.”
God was pleased with his request and said, “You have not asked for wealth or fame or popularity for yourself, but you have asked for wisdom to lead my people, not for yourself.
That is why I will give you wisdom and give you so much wealth and property that no one had before you. And no one will get it after you.”
After a few days, two women came to the king’s palace and said, “King, judge between us.”
The question was very confusing. Both were fighting over a child. One was saying that her child died at night and she is claiming my child as hers. The other was also saying the same thing.
All the people in the palace started thinking how the king would solve this difficult puzzle. Then the king called for a sword and said that this child should be cut into two pieces and one piece should be given to each of the two.
Then a mother shouted and said while crying, no, don’t cut him into pieces, give him to this woman only. But there was no wrinkle on the face of the other woman.
The king announced his decision and said that this first woman is the real mother of the child. Who cannot see her child getting harmed.
Everyone was surprised by this wise decision of the king. (2 Kings 1-2)
Moral: Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom.
